"Contesting for Narrative Power: Changing the Story of Philanthropy"
This training is geared towards leaders who want to become more strategic storytellers and narrative strategists, working with or within philanthropy and investments for a Just Transition.
The curriculum is designed as an introduction to Story-based Strategy with no prerequisites, held online over two days for five hours each day. Our 90-minute online self-paced Core Concepts workshop, to be completed in preparation, is included.
The interactive sessions will provide participants with the critical narrative strategy skills to support frontline-led social movements and to advance institutional change in the field(s) of philanthropy and beyond. Participants will explore what it means to apply a “narrative power analysis” to social change philanthropy and investing, and practice creating narrative intervention prototypes with peers.
Story-based Strategy is a framework that integrates core principles from organizing, communications, narrative, and culture, and has successfully served grassroots movements in changing the story for 20 years.
Please note, we anticipate having more applicants than spaces available. In alignment with our theory of change, we are prioritizing folks who are committed to or interested in resourcing grassroots groups and communities at the intersections of pollution, poverty, and racism. Preference will be given to applicants who are excited to join a narrative strategy community of practice in philanthropy.
